Also, Chris, I may not have a personal interest in anything related to sea food (besides being happy when people eat lionfish), but, I am a flaming tax payer. It sounds to me like hoop netters account for too much take. While it is open and on the table - I wish they would adopt maximum sizes and do something to decrease the success of hoop netting. The lobster population may "seem stable" - but, I don't want my tax dollars spent in the future to reverse bad decisions made now. It is much cheaper to do it right the first time. How to do that? One way is to restrict the biggest offenders now. I'll never forget the number of lobsters I saw long ago at Cocos island. What are they using to gauge a "lobster population". How many of the F&G commissioners have been to places to see what a strong population of lobsters really can be??? Maybe they are using the wrong measuring stick.
