I was fortunate to be invited to document freedivers attempting to spear some yellow tail. A lot of effort was put in, but none were found. Except at the last paddy visited, three of us saw a very large yellow tail, 34 lbs. 46" long. He didn't get that big by being stupid. He evaded all hunters, with spear and camera. It's always a treat to dive under the free floating kelp paddies and see the ecosystem it supports.
