Sorry Seahunt. Westwood was the home of Rene's Sporting Goods, the first place California divers had access to the Cousteau/Gagnan Process regulators. Eventually the company became US Divers and it gave divers their initial access to open circuit gear. I suppose you could argue it is more of a scuba birthplace than say the waterman culture that others have mentioned but it was a seminal happening.
