The Catalina Marine Society wants to expand its membership and increase its social activities. We are chartered to advance the scientific understanding of our local ocean using volunteer resources when possible. We have a variety of ongoing projects, including our Continental Thermograph Array, scientific mooring at Catalina, and other studies employing government-funded data. We also sponsor and give diver-interesting presentations and produce a small magazine describing ongoing institutional research activity and interesting happenings in SoCal. Although not a dive organization, most people who are associated with the CMS are divers and if you read diver.net you will fit in nicely.
