It’s rare to be happy about money issues on Tax Day but it looks like today is that day as we welcome our first Platinum donor of 2014.

Mike Emmerman, Pat Stockhausen, and their son TJ have not only been longtime friends of Karl Huggins but they are also ardent supporters of the Chamber and Chamber Day. And they have come through again this year with their Platinum level donation of $5,000. Among the many hats Mike wears is one as a nationally-known expert in disaster preparedness and first response and he knows only too well how important a facility like our Chamber is to the well-being of the diving community.

As importantly, this donation underscores another important fact: You don't have to live in Los Angeles to support or benefit from our Chamber. Mike and family happen to live in New York. And they certainly understand how the work done here, and whatever we learn from treatments and protocols, can be shared with other hyperbaric facilities to improve diver care on a much wider level than just SoCal.

So you might be diving in Indonesia and need to be treated but still benefit from procedures developed at our Chamber. Don't think that just because you don't live or dive in SoCal, we don't need your help. We do. And now's the time to make your donation felt.

Our next landmark is $20,000. Who will help point us in that direction?
