The father of dive painting is and will always be the late John Steele, followed by Jack Dudley ( recall what he was also famous for???) Andre Laban (a Cousteau crew member) and most recently the painter of the blue Le cocq, now Abachar is following with some very fine paintings. certainly worth collection and commissioning for a private paining. FYI for the first few years of Skin diver magazine underwater photography had not been perfected and relied on top side photographs and painting for their covers. John Steel was an early contributor followed by Jack Dudley. Steel painting and prints now demand premium prices if they can be found on the open market SDM |
