Dive Report: Catalina on Labor Day |
Posted by Chris on September 02, 2014 at 22:12:27:
Juvenile Halichoeres semicinctus (Rock Wrasse) Yesterday (August 1, 2014) I took the Magician Open Boat to Catalina for three dives. Our fist dive was Black Rock, which is one of my favorites because of all of the structure. The visibility was a green about 25-30 feet. The water was 70°F on the surface and 62°F at 115 feet. The next dive was Eagles Nest with similar conditions, but the water was less green. Many divers saw Giant Black Sea Bass, but I was looking for little things since I brought a macro lens. Our last dive was a secret spot with great macro subjects and many abalone. On the way home there were some brief blue whale sightings.
