It is I who owes a debt of gratitude to both of you for your interest in the very short undocumented history of our sport, especially the involvement of OC!

It is past time for the local divers to realized that recreational diving did not begin in Oklahoma, NYC, Florida, Texas and points east. It began in SoCal, in SD, LA but especially OC.

Instruction certainly didn't begin with PADI in 1969, or NAUI in 1960,but with LA Co UW Instructors in 1954.

As the fourth LA Co UW instructor in OC I find it appalling when visiting SoCal dive shops or chatting with local divers only to discover the universal lack of local dive history.

I do appreciate your interest. With in a few short years there will be no more witnesses to diving history only those who with great authority state"I was told," "I heard," "I suppose."
