The first dive resort in Belize was in 1960...Sam Le Cocq, (aka Sam The Crook) Harry Vetter et al established one in 1959-1960.

In August 1960 (Plus or minus on the month) hurricane Dianna came through the area and totally destroyed the resort. According to Harry nothing was salvageable.

So that hurricane ended the desire for a tropical resort for a while
