For those of you that don't know, Lee and I worked and dove together for years. Lee was my mentor, he taught me how to lobster dive, and, in fact, taught me how to DIVE. We worked and dove together for years. We explored the horseshoe kelp together, the Santa Monica Bay together, San Nicolas Island together, Catalina, Santa Barbara Island, Tanner Bank, Cortez Bank, Osborne Bank, and so many other places.
Lee taught me to love diving, to love lobster hunting, and just to love exploring the ocean. We had hundreds of days on the water together and thousands of dives.
Not a day goes bye that I don't miss him and all the energy and fun he brought to myself and the rest of the diving community. I could only hope that his legacy will be that he has encouraged at least one more generation of divers to continue to move forward and teach another generation of divers to do the same.
Lee and Sherry were the best of friends for most of my adult life. may they rest in peace. My condolences to Shel and the rest of the Streit family.
Lee, God bless. I miss you.
