May 5. Ron Fonstad will present a program about the Waves Project. The WAVES Project provides Scuba training and experiences to to combat wounded veterans at no cost. It's been clinically proven that being underwater is a perfect therapeutic environment for people who have been physically injured in combat but also for those that have suffered traumatic brain injuries or post traumatic stress disorder. June 2. Gerald Winkel of Reef.org http://reef.org will give a program about their reef health monitoring program. There are opportunities for volunteer divers. Founded in 1990, their mission is protecting marine life through education, service and research.

July 7. There will be a meeting, but no formal presentation. Enjoy your July 4th holiday.

August 4. Ian Jacobson will present a program about the LA Waterkeeper http://lawaterkeeper.org. Formerly known as the Santa Monica Baykeeper and founded in 1993, the mission of the Los Angeles Waterkeeper is to protect and restore the Santa Monica Bay, San Pedro Bay and adjacent waters through enforcement, fieldwork, and community action. There are opportunities to be a volunteer diver in their Kelp Project restoration program.
