Checking with some of the local boats and stores would be my first stop (see below) but Lori points out midweek boats are not common this time of year.

If conditions permit, La Jolla Cove is probably the best and easiest beach dive in the area.

Any of the local shops can set you up with appropriate rental gear and a certified divemaster to act as a guide (a very good idea as you are newer divers and new to the area).
