Best advice, pick any month but March. That said, you are from an area with
cold water and you may beat the wind of the weather change. Really, watch
the weather and find some local web cams. It has been rough this year.

San Diego does have OK diving and the boat trips are short. If you could go to
Wreck Alley on the Lois Ann or another boat, you would have a good time if
the vis was OK. The Metridium covered Wrecks are pretty awesome. Snorkelling or
scuba diving in La Jolla at the reserve would be fun too.

My best suggestion would be to try to get to Catalina and though I have written
about it a lot, for a new comer, I recommend a post from another out of state visitor
to give that perspective. Gillyweed_girl and scubadobadoo finally check out Catalina Island
Isn't Chicago near New York anyway. They tell a great story and give a lot of useful
information. It's a fun read. You enter the dive park by walking down concrete stairs.
That's a plus. ... They did go in summer....
