With only two weekends left before we head back up to Vancouver Island we needed to iron out a few minor issues. I've been trying a different wide angle lens as well as a different macro setup lately. I've also been having leaks in my dry gloves. We made two shakeout dives today and I solved none of those issues. At least we had bad visibility to make it a normal dive day.

At Hermosa Artificial Reef I tried to get wide angle shots of Giant Sea Bass and California Broomtail Groupers. Vis was about four feet and the only time I saw any GSBs was when they came right up to me. Thanks to strobes and Photoshop they look a lot better than the ones I saw underwater.

Merry was smarter than I. She used her 105mm lens.

At Golf Ball Reef we had a smog alert on the bottom. A current was sweeping a dirty layer of water over us making photography difficult. I had a Giant Sea Bass swim up to me here as well but I was using a 105mm lens this time. Go Figure. I did find another Thordisa rubescens though so the day wasn't a total loss.
