Dive Report: Shaws Cove, Sunday 10-16-16 |
Posted by J. Reeb on October 16, 2016 at 11:27:32: Marshal (<20 dives) and I decided conditions looked sufficently safe to dive Shaws this AM, even with a West swell visiting from out of town. I especially wanted to do the swim- through as a 7' high tide was at 9:37 and this would add depth to the canyon. When we reached the beach there were two footers rolling in but they were in sets and both our entry and exit were easy. Viz out on the reef was poor, 10'-15' with allot of suspended material in the water. Even so, Marshal remarked how much he enjoyed the dive, particulary traversing through the slots in the reef. In one of the slots, I spotted a good size abalone which I feed a stray kelp frond. On our way back to the beach we performed a SMB deployment drill. Divemetrics: 44', 63mins, 60F J. Reeb |
