Dive Report: Deadmans Reef 2-3-18 |
Posted by J. Reeb on February 04, 2018 at 09:09:49: We decided on a change of pace yesterday and went to Deadman's Reef. Surface conditions have been good all week and we were hoping for a rebound underwater, but it was not to be. Out on the reef viz was 15-20', a little better than last week, but no where near the peak conditions enjoyed last month. I took my mini camera set up which of course ensured I saw lots of great subjects that were hard to light with my smaller set of lights. Lobsters seemed to be everywhere, Blacksmiths were schooling in the kelp strands, I managed to spot the largest Kelp Bass I've ever seen, saw one lone starfish, and the shot of the day (which I flubbed) was a Moray Eel and his lobster buddy surrounded by a posse of shrimp. I did find this sea fan to be striking: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bev0U6-AaU1/ Divemetrics: 60mins, 57FSW, 58F.
