I found an interesting article about them trying to preserve theWhite Abalone species. In the old lore, you hear of their huge numbers. That was then, this is now. I suspect they are slow growers, but their habitat is deeper than otters can dive.
I took a 9.5 incher at 110 feet at Yellowbanks Santa Cruz Island in 1971 and on 8 incher somewhere later. But that is all in many years.
