Here an eel, there an eel |
Posted by Max Bottomtime on November 06, 2018 at 20:04:17: I went many years without finding a moray eel around Palos Verdes. Today I saw eels at two different locations. Speaking of two, visibility was split as well. Richard Forster posted a YouTube video of blue water at Marineland two days ago. Merry and I tried to dive there today but the swells were pounding us. We headed east to Resort Point where it was much calmer. Visibility was about fifteen feet, which was enough to find a juvenile moray eel along the wall. For our next dive we went to the crane off Haggerty's. Visibility here was at least thirty feet initially. The outgoing tide turned it to less than ten by the end of the dive. I dropped into a school of Halfmoons which followed me down to the crane. A huge school of barracuda hung out with Merry for quite awhile. I spent most of my time trying to get my snoots close enough to one of the resident moray eels. All in all it was one of the best dive days we've had in a long time.
