The next General Meeting will be on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Round Table Pizza, 4330 Redondo Beach Blvd.
(just east of Hawthorne Blvd. in the Northpoint/CVS Shopping Center) Torrance, CA where all our general meetings are held.

Meetings are free and visitors are especially welcome to attend.

December 4. Dr. Tony Knight serves on the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council. His presentation is Introducing Your Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary https://channelislands.noaa.gov/.
The Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary is a protected area that surrounds the Channel Islands National Park and administered by NOAA. The presentation will help divers to better understand the Sanctuary with regard to current research, management, and education. The Marine Conservation Areas and Marine Reserves around the islands will be discussed including research on Marine Protected Areas worldwide. Current issues such as invasive species and the role of divers to help identify and halt the spread of these will be highlighted. Most importantly, he will discuss ways divers can enjoy, protect, and contribute to the health of this precious ecosystem.

January 1. No meeting. Happy New Year! Emoji

February 5. Joe Kalohi, Shark Diving in Guadalupe, In May 2018, Kathy and Joe attended the Chamber Day benefit dinner at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. As it turned out, Joe won the Grand Prize of a 5-day shark cage dive trip aboard the Nautilus Explorer down at Guadalupe Island, Mexico. He was able to make the trip in late September and thoroughly enjoyed himself. Yep, it was a trip for only one. Kathy had to accept that fact. What led up to his winning the trip was pretty amusing but he would like to share some of the exciting pictures and videos of his trip.

March 5. Ron Wike. Diving in Cozumel, Ron has lots of pictures and some video of one of his favorite places to dive. Cozumel's great reef structure, flora and fauna, easy access, friendly English speaking people make it one of the best places for beginner and expert alike in the northern hemisphere.
