Spawning snails

During our 2-week trip to God's Pocket with Richard Salas and his sensational group of divers, the spring spawning event was taking place everywhere, or so it seemed.

Here are blue topsnails, Calliostoma ligatum, broadcast spawning on Seven Tree Island. The eggs have a protective gelatinous coating and are approximately seven tenths of a millimeter in diameter (750 microns).
