When we see a boat of fishermen inside an MPA we approach slowly, let them know what they are doing and usually, they say they didn't know about the MPA. We give them the printed information. If they argue or don't pull in their lines, we take a photo of their boat, CF number and faces of those onboard. You can now download the CalTip app. It allows you to take photos and upload them directly to CDF&W including the time and GPS coordinates. From talking to them on the phone, it seems as if they are only going after repeat offenders.
