More about those big, big fish. |
Posted by Merry on September 30, 2019 at 15:08:31: Giant sea bass have a variable spot pattern that is unique to each fish, enabling researchers to identify individual fish. Making ID a little more challenging, the right and left sides of each fish also have a different spot pattern. Sometimes the fish cooperate, or we're fast enough, to get an image of both sides. This month we submitted a total of 89 separate encounters to Spotting Giant Sea Bass, including 13 fish with both left and right sides represented. We've repeatedly seen one fish, Herb, since 2015. |
