I am amazed and pleased to say . . . WE PASSED $25,000!!! Wow.

A lot of the heavy lifting was done through the $5,000 Platinum donation from John & Nanaz Turney. John is a former Chamber Crew member as well as is associated with the Catalina Conservation Divers so he and Nanaz have a love for these waters as well as the people that dive them. And they understand why we need our Chamber to be at the ready 24/7/365.

We’ve also got a $1,000 Gold donation remembering Dan Rood, who was the founder of DiveVets. This is a group of people who love diving Veterans Park and who would gather each Wednesday evening, as much for the diving as well as the socializing. And Dan was always eager to extol the virtues of both to anyone who would listen.

Our final larger donation is a $500 Silver one from Kevin Glenn in honor of and remembering all the divers no longer with us. And we’ll point out that Peter Croke, Callie Mack, and David Bower’s (in memory of his wife Marian) donations are listed as Bronze, they were all in excess of $100 but didn’t make it up to Silver.

And the point of all of this is that no matter the amount you can afford to contribute, it goes to a good cause and that’s keeping our Chamber and the crew in tip-top shape should the need arise. Many of you received a federal stimulus check in the last few days. Maybe you’d be kind enough to divert some of that to stimulate the Challenge for our Chamber.
