Sounds like you had a decent-enough time. Is "Isla Animas" Las Animas (or more fully "Isla Las Animas"), about 70 miles north of La Paz. If so, one of my absolute favorite (and remote) places to dive in the world. When we used to do our annual Sea of Cortez trips many moons ago, we'd always try to spend two days at Las Animas. Fabulous diving and sometimes spectacular conditions (plus schooling hammerheads).

We also dove Cabo Pulmo in late 2019, also from the Gallant Lady. We were lucky enough to get the schooling jacks at Los Morros (but there wasn't much else there). Here's a video link for what you can look forward to on your next trip there.
