On New Year's Day 2016, Merry decided to try for some super-macro shots at Golf Ball Reef. She stacked a +5 and +10 diopter onto her macro port and hung the housing over the side of the boat. The weight was a bit too much. When she got in the water, her diopters were gone. We spent the next few dives making search patterns with no luck.

Six years later, Roger Carlson happened to swim right over the lenses while checking out the reef. He took them home and cleaned them, but they're goners. Sometimes the sea gives up its dead.
