We’re soooo close to $35,000 . . .

Sadly, our pace has slowed down a little bit since our previous update. And we know there’s a lot going on – rain, Spring Break, March Madness, etc. – but we also hope you’ll still be willing to support our Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber because our Chamber needs to raise a bit over 50% of the annual budget with donations from divers just like you. And here’s a couple of the folks who did that recently.

On the Gold level, we start off with John Delaney. John’s been a longtime and regular donor for this event and understands as well as anyone the value of our Chamber. Best of all, he’s willing to support our Chamber with a generous donation. The same can be said for Francesco Cameli, an instructor who certainly knows that sometimes divers make mistakes and things get out of hand and that’s when you really want to have access to our Chamber 24/7/365.

On the Silver level, we have the Catalina Island Marine Institute & Catalina Sea Camp, creating new divers who will hopefully never need our services, but who will have an appreciation for both the ocean and diving. And we also have Matt Levinson, another instructor, back again this year as well.

A good example of why we need your continued assistance is that sometimes expenses pop up that we couldn’t plan for. Chamber Director Karl Huggins notes that they're going to need to replace an air dryer (basically a dehumidifier that insures we're pumping dry air into the Chamber) at a cost of about $15,000. This is what we refer to as an "unanticipated" expense as it's something outside of the regular operations and so not always something we can budget for ahead of time. Your donations help us not only fund our Chamber on a day-to-day basis, but also help us to cover these one-off expenses as well.
