Ted's Pinnacle at Old Marineland |
Posted by Merry on March 02, 2024 at 22:11:24: On Friday, Phil Garner and I decided to look for good viz on the south side of Palos Verdes Peninsula. We nostalgically dropped anchor at the former site of Marineland, where Phil has been diving for 35 years and where we met 18 yrs ago. The Terranea Resort now sits on this prime real estate. Viz was only 10 ft at best, but we were happy to find a large number of olive rockfish, calico bass, and barred sand bass with an occasional gopher, vermilion, or kelp rockfish. Phil was once dubbed the Mayor of Marineland by other divers because of the frequency of his dives there and his knowledge of the underwater topography. Yesterday, he completed #393, the most dives he's ever made at one spot. Most of those were beach dives.
