Hey everyone,
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on this board.
I just wanted to say hi.
I formed a group that dives up here in Norcal called PURP (Purple Urchin Remival Project).
All I do now is dive to remove purple urchins.
Our main focus is Stillwater Cove in Sonoma County.
So far since this time last year we have removed over 21,000 lbs of purples.
We’re allowed to take 40 gallons of purples per day. That’s two trash cans full.
I have an average of 12 divers that show up each Sunday.
Seal’s Watersports in Santa Rosa is involved too.
SeaTrees.org also got involved and funded us for air fills for this project.
A coupe of weekends ago a film maker was there with crew and they filmed us and did an interview for an upcoming documentary, very exciting!
