Once again, Merry Passage and I went to Golf Ball Reef to attempt to photograph hatching Pacific Red Octopus. I found a nest with mature eggs about to pop. I took a few shots before bringing Merry over so she could try her luck. I hovered around the reef looking for other subjects while Merry watched the nest. By the time I returned, tiny paralarvae octopus were flittering everywhere. I couldn't focus my camera on any individuals. It's like trying to photograph grains of sand in a tornado. Within a few minutes, hundreds of egg sacs were emptied. I was at least able to witness it this time, even if I didn't get any decent photos.
