I was up in Point Arena the day ab season opened and they were getting their limit in less than an hour. We were at the campground called Rollerville near the lighthouse and my only worry was if the people freediving had much skill. What I mean is one freediver told me he doesn't know how to swim so he only snorkels and isn't a free diver. He did catch his limit, but it made me wonder. I wasn't diving that weekend, so I didn't get any firsthand looks, but I think there's a good place right by the lighthouse. The conservancy just opened up some land there and at the curve in the road to the lighthouse, it was busy with cars. The AB divers told me that they saw thousands - I don't know if Ab divers tell tall tales like lobster divers or if it's okay to tell people about a place - But it seemed popular to me.
