There is NO EXCUSE for even possessing a speargun at La Jolla Cove, much less shooting a protected species. It is a posted reserve. This seems like an obvious case of premeditated poaching and the penalty of only a fine is extraordinarily inadequate.
As a hunter and a diver I find this jerk’s actions repugnant. Perhaps we can find out who the judge and prosecutor will be and write them a letter.
