I am a big fan of scissors. I have four tackle bags and all four have scissors mounted on them. They do have their limits. Rope, while usually easy to see and avoid. Would be just about impossible to cut with scissors. Stainless steel fishing wire would be difficult to cut. I have cut steel wire with scissors before, but they were not designed for that kind of abuse.
I solo dive mostly. I believe in redundency. I have a BC knife and a larger Wenoka knife. Which is mounted for easy access. Even when I free dive I carry a little knife mounted to my suit zipper. I believe in Murphey's law. I also free dive to +50 ft. I have never been tangled on scuba. I guess I move to slow. I have been tangled free diving before. I have often thought about adding scissors to my dive gear. Scissors would be the best tool in a tangled mess of mono. When a lot of easy cuts would be beneficial.
