As I said in the earlier post, some'll cut, other are just cheap knockoffs that you shouldn't depend upon as part of your life support equipment. Those built of heavier material (rather than the stamped metal ones) will cut wire, braided cable leaders and pennies - though pennies haven't been a big problem for me while diving. Just getting enough of them together to buy the tools and means for diving has been a bigger problem. ;-)
Try before you buy. Bring in some cable (something off the Vincent Thomas?) or other material and see how they work. If the sales person has a problem, go somewhere else to make your selection.
