I leave them on the tank with the pressure on. Take a fresh water hose and spray down all outside surfaces and inside the mouth piece and exhaust vents.
When I do find any green scale on any part, I rub it with a cloth and vinegar then re-rinse in a fresh water bucket. I haven't had to do this with my regulators but some people I do dive with do to theirs.
I see too many people at the docks just put the rugs in a bucket and leave it over night. Don't think that does a good enough job my itself.
I clean my BC's the same way except that I never remove the hose from the BC bag.
I just fill the inside with water through the manual inflate mouthpiece and drain through the dump valves.
Do this at least three times to make sure any salt water that might still be there will be so diluted down it wouldn't cause problems later.
