Got certified not long ago. Maybe diving in CA soon (is November too cold?). Was recommended a 1/4 inch wet suit. I live on the NorthEast coast and was recommended a 3/2 for here. 3/2 must be mm. If I am measuring right, 1/4 inch corresponds to 6 mm? Waters in the NorthEast must not be any warmer than in Southern CA so why would they recommend only a 3 mm? I guess I want to buy one that I could use on both coasts, so would go for the thicker one (since I do get cold easily as well). But if I were to get a 1/4 inch, would I sweat out in the Caribbean (which I intend to make one of my primary dive destinations since it is close). Would a 3/2 be too light for CA? Secondly what brands are preferred most? A recent Scuba Diver poll of the pros seems to mostly mention Body Glove (Quantum and Mistrell). Henderson Polartec, O'neill, Mares and Seaquest are also mentioned. Thirdly are there good, cheap sources of wetsuits on the web? Opinions will be greatly appreciated.
