Mike - I read your post as prescriptions on how access
to the Yukon should be controlled. I'd agree with them
as strong suggestions for PENETRATION DIVES. I think
they are unnecessary for those that want to swim around
the wreck without entry, and I would strongly disagree
with them becoming requirements.
The Responsible Diver Code that is posted on Tim's boat
is appropriate, and common throughout the more advanced
boats in California. I'd like it to remain that way.
People have different notions of what are reasonably safe
practices. I think it's best to let them decide. I
don't like regs like those that ban lights for cavern
divers, or knives in the tropics. We don't need protection
from ourselves.
Obviously I haven't had your experiences with deaths,
on the Andrea Doria or elsewhere. Maybe I'd change my
mind. But I'd hope not - that would be an emotional
response, not based on my views on personal freedoms.
