MHK posted, in part: "This is a general overview and the biggest problem I have seen ( and am most fearful of now that PADI has gotten into it ) is that this mentality that tech diving can be done by anyone..."
My question:
So, what kind of prerequisites SHOULD there be? What kind of screening process is there now? In this new tech/wreck specialty, what will PADI do to screen -- even assuming litigation exposure is PADI's only concern, which I don't, there would have to be some kind of process beyond the normal set of medical forms, baisc physical tests, and liability waivers. How do you develop a set of standards about who should or shouldn't tech dive?
I have NO plans to do tech (I'm mainly afraid I'd be sitting there decompressing for two hours while the "It's A Small World Song" plays repeatedly in my head), but I'm interested in these answers.
