but i did hear a report that found drivers today
drive more recklessly and this tied into the fact
that auto mfg's are making the cars 'safer'. the
argument was made that drivers w/modern cars that
have air bags and crumple zones, etc, etc, actually
drive faster b/c of the perceived built-in safety
the modern day cars have to offer: 'my car is
built w/safety features, so i will survive a crash.'
one english driving instructor went so far as to
suggest placing a sharp metal bar sticking out of
the steering wheel towards the driver to get drivers
to drive more carefully.
