More often than not you will find that diver's that have a desire to dive deep usually only do so for a good reason. In my case it is generally the allure of a wreck that get's you down there. Obviuosly if a wreck sits in 250' you wouldn't have the ability to see it at any shallower depths. Sometimes you may want to dive deep for the exploration value, such as the case with John Walker and I on the Matterhorn last week. We had heard that there is a very old anchor from a Spanish Galleon that we wanted to take a look for, and there are cases when you are exploring caves where you may find yourself going deep.
Each perosn has his own reason for diving deep and I hope that no one is diving deep just for the sake of diving deep. In other words, going to X depth simply to say you have been there is generally a poor reason to set such a goal..
