is also going on in Michigan and Wisconsin. The deer are so plentiful that they have been seriously retarding forest succession. I used to hunt the things with a .38 revolver. It'd take me the better part of 5 to 6 hours to sneak up on one by staying downwind and then get close enough to put a slug between the first two cervical vertebrae. It was a difficult but enjoyable challenge, and that venison salami in the refrigerator is A-OK! I wonder if a similar situation doesn't exist locally with all the sea lions out there, given their appetites for fish, their increasing numbers and boldness (although i remember people hassling them in the late '70s) and the seeming lack of predators that would eat those sea lions (except those Orcas off of Huntington Beach last April!).
