I prefer old fashioned hard weights with a metal depth compensating buckle. I like to wear all of my weights in the front.

Most women I know see to be bothered by the hard weights.
For them I would recommend a pouch type belt, that can take either shot weights or hard weights, with a metal depth compensating buckle.
I recently got a belt like this from Sea d Sea in Redondo Beach for my sister. She loves it.

No matter what type of belt you end up with, I would recommend you get one with a heavy duty metal buckle, and throw the plastic buckle into the trash where it belongs. Trident sells a very good depth compensating metal buckle. Scubapro sells the best conventional metal buckle.

SeaSoft weights have a very nice metal buckle, and their stretch takes care of the depth compensation, however their main disadvantage is they can not be easily changed for different tank/gear configurations.
