About 4 years ago I bought a tide prediction program, and the first use I put it to was to try to find a correlation between tide state and visibility in the LA outer harbor. I used a population of 80 dives on Horseshoe wrecks for which I had good records of visibility (Moody, Ace 1, Gambler, Olympic, and half a dozen more.) Unfortunately there was no correlation at all. I expect that there is some effect, but it was lost in the noise of surface conditions and plankton blooms.
