I used to own two of the Odin types, the one's that look like showerheads on the second stages. We were diving Naipomo above Seattle a while back when I experienced a constant rush of air through the wrist collar of the second stage. The guy who used to service them said that the first stage lost it's ability to hold intermediate pressure and forced the air to go on through at a much higher than intermediate pressure. I too heard the stories of them failing closed and dismissed them until the same reg that ran amuck would not deliver any air. This dive was in colder water too about 50 deg. My service guy said the piston froze closed. After the second instance, I sold both two year old regs for 375 as a set.
Would I ever buy Poseidon regulators again, no due to the high service costs and my experience with them.
