The Lois Ann is a good boat. Although the owners are new, they were involved in the operation back when it was owned by Larry & Lois Cochrane.

Sorry, but April and May tend to be the worst time of year for visibility in San Diego. As the days get longer and the water starts warming up, the plankton goes crazy. Since you are used to cold water, late March might be worth a shot. If you do dive, very early morning would be your best bet.

The Coronado Islands have much better visibility than the kelp beds or Wreck Alley. You'll be able to see every rock and urchin clearly. If you've got the time (some 24-hour trips), a trip to San Clemente Island would probably be a better choice.
