I'm trying to more or less plan out my Spring/Summer dive travel. I want to include a San Diego trip in Spring/Early Summer. My family is in Escondido, so I'll make multiple trips. It is a 9 hour drive though, so I'd like to make each trip count. Last time I drove down for a dive the boat cancelled at the last minute. I've heard lots of good feedback on the Lois Ann, so I want to try that boat. My interest in primarliy in kelp/touring. I did wrecks almost every weekend in Florida when I lived there and I've had my fill - for now.
My two basic questions are:
1. Timing. Is late March a good time or should I wait until April? I'm only concerned about my chances of having good viz. I would be lost in water temps over 55F. I'm used to Sonoma coast and Monterey/Carmel conditions.
2. Dive sites. Coronado Islands or a kelp or Yukon/kelp dive (Yeah, I'll have to see the Yukon at least once this year)?
