OK, I suppose it looks like a word game. I will not mention it again. However, my question is: why do divers call it a tank when it has never been a tank?

One scnario I can think of is that someone mis-translated Cousteau and it stuck. Instructors, who didn't bother to check things out, wrote diving manuals using tank. The students who read the incorrect books called it a tank and became instructors and taught their students tank.

It is true my name is not just Bill; I am defined by my multi-word name. Addressing me by any one of my names will elicit a response from me. By your logic, cylinder then should have multiple names, like me. However, I can't find any defining authority that defines a cylinder by any other word than cylinder.

Personally, I choose to call things by their correct names.

Regards,

Bill
