Shore diving there is pretty spotty. You had better know just
where you intend to go or you may end up looking at a lot of
sand. Really, 30 miles south at La Jolla is a far better bet...
if the weather lets you go in the water at all either place.
Other than that, your best bet is to go north to LA and catch
the express to Catalina. Look at www.californiadiveboats.com
for your boat options.
If the diving is a washout, you can do a few things... but not
at Oceanside. There is a nice beach there, a pier and a whole
passle of Marines, but not a lot else... Good bodysurfing.
South is San Diego with what diversions you can come up with.
North it is the same in LA... Go up to the Aquarium of the
Pacific.
