Mike - so long as LA divers have to lug their tanks on
board, nitrox will remain uncommon, unpopular, and unprofitable.

The places where I use it (Cypress Point/Sea, Beach Hopper,
Lois Ann), they either pump it, or put the tanks onboard. No
effort on my part. Then I'm happy to pay the $4-10 per tank.

The gain is especially good in the 80-100ft depths, as you
point out. Below that, I generally find the site doesn't
warrant more time. Above 60, cold or boredom is likely to
be the limiting factor, so the only reason for nitrox is
those intangible benefits that I believe really exist.

I'm not sure I agree about the reduction in narcotic effect.
The shallowest I ever felt narc'd was with a rich nitrox mix,
at least 20ft above where I generally start to feel it. I
have not done consecutive dives to the same depth with
and without mix, but that's my sense.
