that beach can kill you if you are not an experienced diver, and it can kill you even if you are.

the last fatality there was back on Jan 7 of this year. dive buddy disappeared upon ascending. i guess the two divers lost track of each other during their ascent at the end of the dive. bad buddy procedure, i guess. USCG and M.C. Sheriffs Dept. never recovered the body, so its still out there somewhere, prolly at the bottom of the trench. be careful, if you dive at Monastery.

other beaches for "new" divers are:

Breakwater Cove
Del Monte Beach
El Torito Beach on Cannery Row / aka McAbee
Otter Cove, Pacific Grove
Lovers Cove, Pacific Grove

the following beaches are intermediate to advanced dives:

Lovers Point, Pacific Grove
Coral Street, Pacific Grove
Metridium Fields

the following beaches are advanced sites:

Butterfly House, Carmel
Copper Roof House, Carmel
North Carmel River Beach Cove, Carmel
Carmel Meadows Beach, north, middle, & south
Monastry Beach

FYI, Dude!
