I don't think he is being an alarmist, I just think he is behind the curve when it comes to advanced gases.. That being said, I'm a big fan of slow ascents, and while I view some of his comments with some suspect at this point, I'm certainly not a doctor with his credentials and I must assume he knows more about spinal cords than I do...

I can speak about decompression theory with some expertiese but I wouldn't presume to have more knowledge about spinal cords than Dr. Bennett.

I'm just offering my perspective...

As for the ditchable weights, that should only happen in an emergency, and is the exception rather than the rule.

I balance my rig so I can get off the bottom but not rocket to the surface.. And at the end of the day a risk to the spin -v- staying on the bottom, I'll go with the spinal risk any day of the week...
